Our Mission

The mission of Community Helping Place is to address with care and compassion, the needs of the people of Lumpkin County by delivering services that strengthen and transform lives.

Our Vision

Quite simply:
Meeting Needs. Transforming Lives.

Our Desire

is to be a place where everyone is welcome and treated with dignity, while needs are addressed and individuals are valued and celebrated. We do this work by partnering with over eighty agencies, businesses, institutions and faith communities, and engaging nearly three hundred volunteers per year.

Melissa Line - Executive Director, LMSW

Melissa Line came to CHP as the Executive Director in June 2019, after working with families and children professionally for 20 years. Melissa holds a BS in Family Psychology and an MSW with a concentration in Families and Children. Melissa is overjoyed to work with the wonderful team of staff and volunteers at Community Helping Place and looks forward to the future!

Paula Payne – Director of Development and Operations

Paula Payne has been with CHP since 2008, being the driving force behind the Free Clinic. Paula has previous experience in the management of a Free Clinic in Kentucky, a Business degree, and vast experience in operations and management.

Debi Holloway – Director of Client Services

Debi Holloway joined the staff of CHP in 2017 as the part-time client navigator, eventually moving into her current full-time position where she provides direct support and oversight of the Food Pantry, Summer Food Program, Emergency Assistance and The Spirit of Christmas program. Debi’s educational and life experiences in social work have given her many useful skills and tools for serving those in need in our community.

Jennifer has dedicated her adult life to the helping profession, viewing it as her calling. With extensive experience and deep compassion, she joins CHP ready to assist others to the fullest extent possible. Witnessing people improve in all aspects brings Jennifer genuine joy. Since 1996, she has called the North Georgia area home, cherishing its beauty. During her leisure time, she finds solace in nature and treasures moments spent with her family, friends, and beloved pets.

Tristen Parrish – Communications Manager

Tristen Parrish joined CHP as our Community Outreach Coordinator in May 2023, as our communications manager. Tristen has previously been in service to this community as the administrator of Concord Baptist Church Dahlonega Campus.

Regina Wright – Family Wellness Initiative Case Manager

Regina is the newest addition to our CHP team, taking on the role of Case Manager for our Family Wellness Initiative. Residing in Dahlonega with her husband and three children, she brings a wealth of community service experience. Regina has been actively involved as a mentor for Family Connection, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, previously served as Kiwanis President and is actively involved in church at Dahlonega Presbyterian

Emily Hudgins – Volunteer Coordinator

Emily is the newly appointed Volunteer Coordinator at Community Helping Place. She is a devoted wife and mother of two children under two. Holding a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University, she brings a blend of knowledge and passion to her role. Emily’s commitment lies in fostering meaningful connections within the community and offering support to those facing challenges. Eager to learn about the workings of CHP and its impact, she aims to leave a lasting positive influence on the community.

As the current bookkeeper at CHP, she has a heart for nonprofits, and brings a wealth of experience in financial management and support to organizations striving to make a difference. Alongside her professional endeavors, She embraces the joyous role of motherhood, cherishing each moment with a spirited toddler. For nearly a decade, She’s been blessed with a loving partnership, navigating life’s adventures hand in hand with her devoted spouse. Balancing the responsibilities of work and family fuels her passion for both realms, driving her to excel in her career while nurturing the bonds that mean the most to her.

Linda Sanchez - Clinic Operations Manager

Linda is the Assistant Clinic Director for the Community Helping Place Anne Green Free Clinic. Linda is a certified dental assistant, who also helps with the day-to-day operations of the clinic front office. Linda is bilingual in Spanish and English and brings a warmth and joy to her work with all patients. Linda has four children and one grandson! In her spare time, Linda is a faithful volunteer at the Torch working with children and puppet ministry, and she loves dogs!

Dr. Brad Blazek – Counselor

Brad Blazek began offering counseling and therapy through CHP in 2019.  Now with a team of case workers he helps clients sort through and tackle root issues.  Our clients often sing his praises as a valuable lifeline.

Blue Barry – Director of Pest Control

Blue Barry was rescued by a food pantry volunteer and surrendered to animal control who found him the ideal job and lifestyle working at CHP in the Rock House office. His official job title is Director of Pest Control, but he has quickly moved into his secondary roles as Official Greeter and Emotional Support Cat for the office. Blue Barry can be found in the laps of clients and staff alike, always ready to be petted and provide comfort and support.
