You Can Help Transform Lives

Our volunteers are our family, and our family always has room for more! Explore the opportunities below to find your place at CHP.

Volunteers over 18 years old assist in the food pantry with clerical duties and distributing food to our friends in need during regular food pantry hours and help with home delivery and various outreach events. Green-thumbed volunteers help with our Community Garden, providing fresh produce directly to our food pantry.

Volunteers sort and price donations, run the cash register, and create displays in the store. The thrift store is a fun place to spend several hours sorting out the various treasures we receive in a near-constant flow of inventory. Thrift store volunteers work one shift a week, one day a month, or anytime that is convenient!

Our medical clinic serves 1,000+ patients a year. We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the roles of professional medical providers, nurses, MA, LPN, or Phlebotomist, and Clerical work (front desk, patient intake, answering phones).

The dental clinic is growing! We can provide both dental hygiene and simple extractions for eligible Lumpkin County residents. Our dental clinic is currently looking for dentists, oral surgeons, dental assistants, and hygienists.

Our volunteers are also involved with everything from a one-day short-term home repair or clean-up for a client to riding on the Opportunity Bus to visit vulnerable neighborhoods and pass out food and books.

Come and find your Place!

Community Helping Place would not be able to exist without the help of our fantastic volunteers. Last year alone they logged over 10,000 hours!

“I love y’all… I also wanted to share with you that in those few months of working there, I was able to really understand and experience what a wonderful thing it is when you help someone. The feeling I would get was better than any drug I’ve ever done… And that’s why I continue and will continue to help anyone that I can.”

Emily Hudgins – Volunteer Coordinator Community Helping Place

Hello, my name is Emily Hudgins.

I am the Volunteer Coordinator for Community Helping Place in Dahlonega, GA. I have been in this position since March of 2024, and it has been a truly fulfilling role for me and—hopefully—the organization.

I get to see the organization through each volunteer’s eyes, witness the passion that feeds each individual, and the commitment each volunteer has to better the community through serving.

Community Helping Place has become a home at heart for most and a place of community and friendships for others. Each person that walks through Community Helping Place is looking for a purpose, and I can say that serving and transforming the lives of Lumpkin County with our volunteers has become just that.
